<aside> 💡 Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick. For many of us, our entire days - if not lives - revolve around the ticking of the clock. Whether we’re wishing for more time or wishing it would just hurry up, the relentless passage of time has tormented humans for centuries. And Kate Crawford aka Cat’s Claw knows that better than most of us. She’s having a really, really bad day: she’s lost all her memories (including the ones about her superpowers), she’d been kidnapped by two of the ugliest dudes in Salt City, and - oh yeah, she’s got a ticking time bomb in her head.

Welcome to *Cat’s Claw,* narrative designer, Chris Large’s riotously funny, intensely kickass, incredibly unique branching story. With a bomb in our heroine’s head and an entire city of villains to defeat, Cat’s Claw is an interactive superhero story that’s one part comic book, one part story-driven video game, and all parts freaking awesome.

When the opening chapter has you make your first choice by asking which of your kidnappers’ shoes you’d like to puke on, you just know it’s going to be good.

In fact, there are few mobile app stories like this one that makes us laugh out loud, but Cat’s Claw’s cast of eccentric superheroes, super villains, and Salt City citizens is the perfect remedy to a lackluster day. Just ask Green Envy, Kate’s frenemy-slash-love-interest-slash-partner-in-crime-busting: between her green skin (literally) and blue mouth (figuratively), you’d be hard-pressed to find a more entertaining sidekick (just don’t tell her we called her a sidekick).

As a Salt City superhero, you’re in the spotlight. Not only do your choices on who to save and how, have immediate repercussions for the citizens they affect, but Salt City’s news drones are watching your every move, and the city will respond to you accordingly.

The immensity of Large’s branching story skills cannot be overstated: as Cat’s Claw you have a hand in everything from mayoral elections to who lives and who dies — and how you’ll be remembered for it all.

Cat’s Claw makes this imminent threat into a real, trackable variable: players will be able to see exactly how many hours they have left before Kate’s brain bomb goes boom, and every action has a time cost attached to it. You will have to juggle your priorities carefully, and with multiple love interests, estranged family members, and an entire past for Kate to unravel while she searches for a solution to the ticking in her head, you’ll have plenty of things to choose from.

So what are you waiting for? Salt City is waiting, and every second counts.
